Is Solar the Future?

Do you know what-Solar-Equals-Future question is an inevitable question which has caused heated debate among solar scholars.

Solar power could be a major energy source in the future

According to the annual long-term analysis of the future of the global electricity system – Bloomberg NEF (BNEF) publishes New Energy Outlook (NEO) 2018, solar and wind are set to surge to almost 50% of world generation by 2050. They are also on the back of precipitous reductions in cost, and the advent of cheaper and cheaper batteries.

There is no doubt that renewable energy is going to play an important role in power supply. In the future we will use solar energy rather than coal. Some people may insist that solar power cannot be a major energy source because it is unstable. Indeed, according some beliefs, solar panel can generate electricity only on sunny day. However, the idea is getting outdated.

Energy storage is a key technology. Battery will enable electricity to be stored and discharged to meet demand. That means, solar panel with battery can provide power even when the sun is not shining. In order to achieve the goal of solar accounting for 15% of electricity generation by 2030 in the U.S., storage system will become indispensable.

Energy storage can help save more money depending on an electric utility that solar customers use. In addition, the cost of lithium ion batteries (common storage paired with solar) has fallen rapidly. For these reasons, the energy storage market is set to expand dramatically. BNEF forecasts the global energy storage market will double six times between 2016 and 2030, rising to a total of 125 gigawatts/305 gigawatt-hours. Eight countries will lead the market, with 70 percent of capacity to be installed in the U.S., China, Japan, India, Germany, U.K., Australia and South Korea.

Our identity revolves around one concept: The youth is our future. We’re bold and loud about Climate Change and take the health of our planet very seriously. We’re all in on sustainability and will do just about anything to help people go green.
